In the Barefeats tests Aperture beats Lightroom in export and import, but Lr is *significantly* faster processing the images.
This is what I found in my own informal testing.
Adding a few simple adjustments and a vignette to a dozen images in Ap3 elicited the beachball, whereas Lr3 crunched through it in seconds. If you are a wedding photographer, Lr3 is the clear choice.

Performance is no good if the UI doesn’t aid the user. I can’t for the life of me figure out how LR catalogs images, I’ve tried it repeatedly on all three versions and sadly gone back to Aperture, for my documentary work and weddings. ;-)
